The Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University in New Brunswick is working with Coopers Ferry Partnership to launch a new Camden City bike share pilot program! The bike share pilot program will feature Ofo's innovative dockless bike sharing system with bright yellow bikes. Stop by our exhibit to try the bikes for yourself and learn more about how dockless bike sharing works. Get a free giveaway and information on how you can sign up. The Office of Civic Engagement at Rutgers-Camden is committed to leveraging the unique gifts, talents, and dreams of our students, faculty, and staff to create positive change in the city of Camden in partnership with city residents and local community, nonprofit, and government organizations.

In this hands-on activity, participants write their hopes and dreams for how they would like to make a difference in the world on strips of fabric. Then, weave the fabric through a loom to help create a tapestry that joins together the aspirations of the Rutgers-Camden campus and the Camden community, crafting a visual representation of the beauty that is generated when diverse groups of people come together to contribute to the common good.

RU Ready to Help? Women’s and Gender Study Project for Local Displaced Women and LGBTQ Youth

All Rutgers Day guests are invited to build hygiene kits or write friendly and inspirational notes to put in the kits. Learn about the challenges facing homeless youth in New Jersey, including the statistics on homeless LGBTQ youth. We anticipate making the kits and delivering them to Covenant House on the same day. Last year, we made over 300 kits and had very positive responses from both children and adults who assembled them.

The Community Leadership Center: Bringing Community Development and Education to the Cooper Street Corridor

Let the Health Sciences program and the Health Sciences Student Organization (HSSO) at Rutgers−Camden show you the benefits of a degree in Health Sciences. Check out videos showing interviews with local healthcare professionals (nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and more), a photo booth complete with health profession themed props, and some healthy snacks. The HSSO will also have a "Pie a Professional” activity, and will be taking donations for Operation Smile, an international charity providing free surgeries for children and young adults in developing countries who are born with cleft lip, cleft palate, or other facial deformities. Come learn about health careers and help someone in need!

The Digital Studies Center presents video game consoles from history. From the Apple II to the Odyssey to the NES, the Digital Studies Center displays video game consoles from its collection. The DiSC's academic program teaches courses in video game design, history, art, and rhetoric as part of its curriculum's mission to understand how digital is changing how we read, write, think, work, and play.
